About South Cambridge Physiotherapy

Chartered physiotherapists treat patients suffering from painful musculoskeletal and neurological conditions and sports injuries at their clinics located at Huxton and at the Cambridge University Boat Club in Cambridge. The aim of the team is to help patients recover from their injuries or conditions in the shortest possible time, restore their normal function and prevent the condition or injury from recurring. Conditions treated include backache, muscle and joint pain, sprains, sports injuries and arthritic pain. Services provided include manual physiotherapy, electrotherapy including ultrasound and laser therapy, hand therapy, exercise therapy and post injury and post operative rehabilitation.

Biography:
She Janet established South Cambridge Physiotherapy in 1995 to provide a centre of excellence for physiotherapy care and expertise. She has extensive experience in treating spine and sports injuries. She specialises in spinal abdominal and pelvic problems with a particular interest in hypermobility syndromes and complex case presentations. With a more recent qualification in Women’s Health and pelvic floor dysfunction she and Amanda work closely to offer a unique holistic approach to those experiencing complex pelvic pain. She is also qualified to carry out Acupuncture.

Dr Damaris Eliot

Biography:
She qualified too many years ago to admit to, at the Middlesex Hospital! She joined Janet at South Cambridge Physiotherapy in January ’99 having worked in England, Australia and Ireland. She has a Masters Degree in Sports and Exercise Injury Management, and has worked with a broad spectrum of sporting athletes. She has a repertoire in treating all varieties of injuries from sports including Gaelic Football, hurling, rugby, golf, cycling , sailing, skiing and horse riding/jockeys. She has treated International Hockey players, professional golfers and national level athletes. She specialises in biomechanics, and has particular expertise in treatment and management of foot disorders and is qualified to measureme for prescription orthotics. She is an expert in Kinesiotherapy Taping and teaches courses in the use of kinesio tape. She is qualified to teach pilates and uses acupuncture regularly within her everyday practice.

Dr Amanda Savage

Biography:
She and Nicola Day provide care for Women’s Health problems & Pelvic Floor Dysfunction in men, women and children, working closely with many of the local gynaecologists and urologists . She has extensive experience and knowledge in the management of urinary and bowel problems. She is especially respected for assessing and treating these complex problems with sensitivity and dignity. She leads our team in the treatment of musculo-skeletal problems associated with pregnancy and the post-natal period, with a special interest in pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain (PGP). She is a Qualified Pilates Instructor. She and Janet Rosie work closely to offer a unique holistic approach to those experiencing complex pelvic, vaginal or rectal pain. She is a member of the Professional Network Pelvic, Obstetric & Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP). She is the present editor of their peer-reviewed Journal.
