About Whittens Physiotherapy Centre
With 20 years of service to Doncaster and its surrounding suburbs, Whittens Physiotherapy Centre prides itself on enhancing the health and well-being of our community.
At Whittens, we take a patient and client centred approach to treatment for every service. Physiotherapy is an evidence based health care profession and one of the core services offered at Whittens Physiotherapy Centre. Our focus is to assess your condition thoroughly and educate you about what the problem is. From a clinicians perspective, patient education and understanding gives the patient some responsibility for their own recovery and aids treatment compliance through accountability.
Treatment is based on current evidence and hands-on so that we can help restore your pre-injury function as quickly as possible. We use a number of different techniques such as joint manipulation and mobilisations, soft tissue release, muscle re-education and exercise rehabilitation protocols. We commonly see and treat sports injuries, low back and neck pain, headaches, arthritic pain and offer post surgical/illness rehabilitation.
Another core service offering is ergonomic advice for patients who present with injuries as a result of a poor workstation setup. We can advise you on the correct ergonomics for your individual requirements as well as providing advice as to what you can do to improve how your body copes with your working activities. It can be as simple as performing a number of prescribed stretches that address tight muscles or strengthening exercises to improve endurance of the muscles that are struggling while working. Incorrect work movement patterns can also be studied and modified to eradicate repetitive type injuries.
We also provide exercise rehabilitation as we believe it underpins the successful recovery for most musculoskeletal problems, such as low back pain and sciatica, shoulder and knee pain to name a few. It is important that the affected muscles are correctly identified and rehabilitated, as evidence shows us that returning muscles to their pre-injury state will decrease the chances of re-injury.
