About Sara Compton

Use Yourself Well's approach to health embraces the link between mind and body and works from the belief that we are innately able to heal ourselves, given a little help to point us in the right direction.  We have amazing minds, and amazing bodies, and using them well, in harmony, enables us to overcome many problems.   Use Yourself Well offers a

genuinely holistic approach to health.

As a sole practitioner, you will see me, and only me, each time you come to my practice.

You will be treated with the utmost respect.

In a quiet location, my clinic's calm and spacious room is warm and comfortable. It is wheelchair accessible, and there is ample free parking on the premises.

I'm registered with the CNHC for the Alexander Technique.  I'm a member of STAT, and Secretary of ISATT (the Irish Society of Alexander Technique Teachers).  I'm currently working towards SIRPA (Stress Illness Recovery Practitioners Association) full accreditation, and should achieve this in 2015.

Treatment Received: Holistic Health Consultation
Excellent sense of well being and of being "at one" with techniques. Pain ceased immediately. Stress ceased immediately. Felt more of a holistic approach to pain management. Environment serene and calm. Not at all like a clinical session I have experienced before. (I am a Health Professional). Developed complete trust in her.

Pain Management - Alternative Treatment

Often chronic pain is caused by inner emotional conflict.  By shedding light on the links between pain and emotions we work towards freedom from pain.  Not pain management but resolution! An educational approach: self-help, not a treatment.  First session is 90 mins, £50, when we will do an in depth consultation and decide issues to work with.  Follow up sessions 60 minutes, £35, as needed.  Working towards full SIRPA accreditation (2015)

Private Patients Welcome

Mrs Sarah Compton

I trained as an Alexander Technique Teacher at the ATTCI, Galway, with Richard Brennan, graduating in 2007. I completed further training and obtained my STAT certificate (and ongoing full membership) in 2008. Prior to training, I was a social worker, and before that, I worked with adults with learning disabilities for Devon Social Services.

My first contact with the Alexander Technique was in 1988. It was recommended to me because of my posture. I enjoyed the unexpected sense of ease, well being and greater energy from my lessons, as much as the expected changes in my posture. Although I only received 12-15 lessons all those years ago, various aspects of the Technique stayed with me over time. For example, the ability to release excess muscular tension helped me to relieve some of the pain after a bad whiplash injury sustained in a car accident 10 years later. When the opportunity came to train as an Alexander teacher, I was delighted.

I love how empowering the Alexander Technique is. The people who come to me for lessons and classes learn new skills that they can take away with them, and apply to all areas of their lives. My teaching encourages them to be actively engaged in learning and where appropriate, problem solving, which is why the Technique works so well for a wide range of health problems. I still remain fascinated by the Technique's ability to relieve a wide range of conditions, and how people coming for help with one thing often find something else being helped too.

I live in West Cavan, and have my own teaching room in Enniskillen. I regularly run classes in Fermanagh and Sligo, as well as being able to offer appointments in Sligo town, South Leitrim (Ballinamore) and Donegal (Stranorla).

I am prepared to give talks and classes to groups of interested people anywhere in the North West of Ireland, either side of the border. I'm also happy to do this in the workplace.

I am a qualified (FETAC level 6) Manual Handling Instructor and can offer this training in the workplace, either in conjunction with the Alexander Technique, or alone.
