What is professional teeth cleaning?

Professional teeth cleaning also called deep teeth cleaning or prophylaxis is performed to remove plaque and tartar from teeth. It can be performed by a dentist, but often by a certified dental hygienist.  It is also done to remove staining from teeth. My 9yr old daughter was really terrified to go to the dentist after a bad experience we had from the last visit. She now needed approx 4 fillings. I had heard that Dr Nuala Cagneys surgery in Charleville was very child friendly and also has a very good reputation . I decided to give them a try :) This clinic has a relaxed and fun approach towards children. The Dentist Louise and the Nurse Margaret were more than accommodating for my daughter, I had explained that she was terrified and they really went above and beyond to make her feel at ease. My daughter told me on our journey home that she is no longer afraid of the dentist and she might even be one when she grows up! Thanks so much to all at Dr Nuala Cagneys Surgery, and keep up the good work :)

I had a scale and polish completed with a review of the quality of my teeth. I was given hygiene education to personally look after my teeth tailored to my needs. I was also given written information for my dentist to have my teeth reviewed when I returned from my trip to Kerry. I felt the price was very good and Dr Mac Domhnail was very thorough. I was told how to protect my teeth and made welcome to return when I needed too. I was made to feel very welcome. And I booked my appointment whilst in the UK using email. I was replied to very quickly and professionaly. The clinic is very clean. Staff are very friendly and lovely atmosphere. Great location and plenty parking. Would recommend and I did to my family in Kerry .

Visited Navan Dental today and came back home with a new flexible denture and a smile. This is a very comfortable denture and more indestructible than conventional dentures. The fitting was meticulous, carefully carried out on a few consecutive visits by David. It is a real delight for me as I feared I might have to resort to implants and I am much happier with this flexible partial plate. I started attending Navan Dental as a patient about 15 years or more ago. It is a very friendly dental practice. Apprehension about visiting the dentist is a thing of the past as I have great trust in my dentist and in the whole team. And it is certainly worth the travel distance!

Went in for a checkup and cleaning for my children & I. We didn't need any extra treatment which was great. I got an appointment quickly on a Saturday and didn't have to wait long to see the dentist. I was really happy with the service received. The dentist was very patient with the kids. Would recommend the dentist I met who was called Dr. John Ahern. I only had to pay 40euro for the entire visit for myself & the kids.

Root canal treatment (also called Endodontics) is needed when the pulp (nerve) inside your tooth becomes infected through decay or damaged by an injury to your mouth. This infection may spread through the nerve system, which could eventually lead to an abscess, causing a great deal of pain and swelling. If root canal treatment is not carried out, the tooth may need to be taken out. Our dentists can perform root canal treatment to stop the infection from spreading and will preserve as much of your tooth as possible. Using specific techniques and advanced equipment, you will receive a local anaesthetic and the treatment overall should feel no different to having an ordinary filling placed. The aim of the treatment is to remove all infection from within the nerve system. The root is then cleaned, shaped and filled to try to prevent any further infection. A temporary filling is placed and the tooth is then left to settle. The tooth is checked at a later visit and when all the infection has cleared, the tooth is definitively filled. Root canal treatment is a skilled and time – consuming procedure and most courses of treatment will involve two or more visits.

I have had a number of treatments (both with Michael and Shona), which have been expertly (and compassionately done; a nervous patient me!).
