What are Dental Bridges?

Dental bridges, also called tooth bridges, are placed when patients have one or more teeth missing or have gaps between their teeth. It usually takes two visits to get dental bridges fitted and the procedure takes about two hours.

What different types of dental bridges are there?

Traditional dental bridges consist of two crowns placed on healthy teeth on either side of the missing teeth, or gap, and the bridge then covers the gap supported by the two crowns. Cantilever bridges are placed when there are healthy teeth only on one side of the bridge. Maryland bridges are bonded to the backs of teeth on either side of the bridge and are not connected to crowns. Implant retained bridges are bridges that are placed over implants fixed in the gums. These bridges are placed when several implants are surgically inserted.   

Is fitting dental bridges painful?

The dentist will numb the area where the dental bridge is to be placed before performing the procedure. Patients will not feel any pain during the procedure.

When can I travel by air after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should be able to fly two days after fitting their dental bridge. If they feel any pain or sensitivity after the procedure, they should consult their dentist for medications or postpone their journey till the pain or sensitivity has abated.    

How long does recovery after fitting dental bridges take?

If patients feel pain or sensitivity after a dental bridge is fitted, they should recover within a week.  

How do I care for my teeth after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should follow a normal dental hygiene routine. Patients should brush and floss their teeth and maintain proper hygiene. Patients should avoid eating or drinking anything that is too hot, cold or too hard, for at least a week after the procedure.

I haven't been to a dentist in 7 years after an incident with my previous dentist, But no doubt about it i will be back into Station House for more treatment done to my teeth. My treatment was free as i had a medical card. i got my teeth cleaned once before by Dr Paddy McKibben. I'll be going Back to this Guy, The receptionists are lovely, and Friendly, and Paddy Is the MAN ! Go to this dentist :D

tooth extraction The dentist I have is great. He is kind, considerate and gentle and does a great job. I will recommend him to anyone I meet. Dr David O'COnnor is a very good dentist, and he does great work with his patients.

It was removed a wisdom tooth and few weeks later it was necessary to remove another tooth that had created troubles years ago I can't recommend Perfect Smile (Mullingar) highly enough! I found the reception staff friendly, helpful and accommodating. The dental care that I received from Dr. Orry Tornsney was excellent and very professional. I would recommend this Dentist and practice to others.

My daughter got braces on to straighten her teeth. I'm so delighted with the treatment she received. Her braces were taken off three months ahead of schedule due to the fantastic treatment and care she received. Our experience of the clinic was 100%. The treatment, care and attention she received was excellent. Extremely professional and I would recommend anyone thinking of getting brace to use this clinic. All the staff are very friendly which makes everything easier.

Dental bridges are appliances used to replace one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made out of three pieces that fit into the open space between teeth, "bridging" the gap. Most bridges are made of a pontic tooth (or false tooth), held together by two crowns (a "cap" that covers the tooth, approximating its normal size and shape). This combination is then attached (cemented) to the abutment teeth (the surrounding teeth on each side of the gap).

I had an initial consultation with Dr. Keenan to discuss orthodontics. I had an X-ray done and set up an appointment for teeth cleaning the very next week My experience was wonderful. The staff was courteous, helpful and professional. The fees are reasonable and customary. The facility was very clean and pleasant. It's conveniently located too.

Dr Gillian and her nurse, Sharon, are both brilliant! I always had the same dentist as a child, but have spent my adult life searching for a good dentist. I have been to almost every dental surgery in Bray and quite a few in South Dublin, never to return to any of them, until now. I have 2 sons who play lots of sports and both have broken teeth. Dr Gillian has always been happy to squeeze them in at short notice. The customer service is great too, so expect a follow up call from them to make sure there is no bleeding, pain ect. I have never even recommended a dentist to a friend before, never mind an online review, but they deserve it for time and care taken as well as results.

Have been a patient of the White House Dental Clinic for some time at this stage. I could only recommend Dr Elise is a very professional and competent dentist. Both Deirdre and Wayne are very courteous staff also. Would highly recommend. Very good. Overall very satisfied!

I attended this clinic after having chipped a tooth. The dentist did a full exam as it was my first time with her, and comprehensively advised me on what I should have done to fix the chip and maintain my good oral hygiene. I had 3 fillings and a clean done in 2 separate appointments. It was completely painless and done very efficiently. I was worried about the needles but didn't feel it all. Any questions were answered and all concerns were addressed. Dr. Niall Mccarthy is a brilliant dentist. I was very nervous about going to the dentist but he helped me overcome my fear. He's very patient and stops at any point if you ever ask. All staff are very friendly and helpful. I am so glad this clinic is near where I live and I would definitely highly recommend this clinic.

Amazing consultation with a very receptive clinic. Wow! I would recommend this clinic a million times. I actually for the first time in my life loved meeting a dentist. He was very gentle and kept talking me through every step of the way. Best dentist. Wonderful staff, kind and receptive. The Dr was very informative, he consulted with me at length and gave me 100% attention. He is the best dentist I have ever dealt with. Bless him.
