CEREC Dental Restorations

CEREC is state of the art German technology that allows impressions to be taken digitally and the ceramic inlay to be made chair-side. This means a single appointment, less need to for local aneasthetic and less need for temporary fillings. CEREC can fabricate inlays, onlays, crowns and veneers and the restorations are amazingly accurate and “tooth-like”. The ceramic materials used are of very similar hardness to the tooth, so they will not cause the opposing teeth to wear away. Ceramic inlays considerably outlast plastic fillings because they are stronger and more wear-resistant, especially important for the main chewing teeth.

Dental Bonding

The bonding process uses a plastic resin to rebuild damaged teeth that have been chipped, cracked, discoloured or misaligned. It is also effective for reducing gaps between the teeth. This process usually requires only one visit, however complex cases may require additional visits. Bonded teeth last up to five years but may require touch-ups or colour correction to obtain the maximum benefit. Corrections done with resin or resin makeovers are more affordable and usually reversible as no tooth reduction is required for the procedure.

Porcelain Bridge

Bridges are a series of crowns fused together to replace one or more missing teeth; they are anchored to the natural teeth on either side of the gaps. Bridges are extremely strong and can last a very long time.
 

Dental Crowns

Crowns are used to restore extremely worn or badly damaged teeth. They are made of porcelain, with or without a metal underlay structure, and cover the whole tooth. During the procedure, part of the tooth surface is removed allowing for a mould to be taken, from which the crown is fabricated. Provisional covers are fitted on the teeth while the fabrication is undertaken. On the second visit these covers are removed, while the customised, carefully crafted crowns are cemented in place.

Dental Implants

Tooth implants comprise a metallic screw and a replacement tooth, bridge or denture. The screw is placed in the jawbone at the site of the missing tooth; usually made of titanium, it effectively attaches to the jawbone within a three-month period. Following this, the new tooth is bonded to the screw. Tooth implants are the best alternative to natural teeth, as they look, feel and function very similar to the real thing.

It requires the gums to be laser-trimmed which alters the shape and size of the tooth area, improving the overall appearance. Usually only one laser treatment is required.

Teeth Whitening

A specially-formulated gel is applied to individual teeth and a pure green-light laser is directed to each. Interaction between the laser light and the gel whitens the teeth. The process usually requires only one visit.

Veneers

Porcelain veneers are extremely hard shells that adhere to the surfaces of teeth. Veneers correct the same problems corrected by bonding, but usually last longer and have a completely natural appearance. Two visits are required. The first allows for buffing the tooth structure and the taking of a mould. During the second visit, the veneer is applied and polished. Veneers are very durable and with three to six-monthly services, they will have a longer life span.
