Biography:
New Jersey plastic surgeon Mark Glasgold, MD, FACS, is an internationally recognized expert in the rejuvenation of the aging face. He devotes his practice to facial cosmetic surgery in order to focus on achieving the finest and most natural results for his patients. He is a board-certified facial plastic surgeon in Highland Park and Princeton, NJ, who is recognized for his skill in performing facelifts, necklifts, fat transfer and eyelid surgery, and for his expertise with injectable fillers.
“By limiting my practice exclusively to cosmetic facial rejuvenation, I have been able to produce consistent, long-lasting and natural results,” Dr. Glasgold said. “My patients at the Glasgold Group consistently report that they look better and younger after surgery. It is not unusual for patients to tell me that their surgery was one of the best investments they have ever made.”
Rejuvenating the aging face is both an art and a science. As a specialist infacial rejuvenation, Dr. Glasgold is skilled in the most medically advanced and cosmetically up-to-date procedures. He regularly shares his expertise with his peers on facelifts, facial fat transfer and the achievement of natural results as a lecturer at national medical conferences and training programs. “Patients worry that they are going to look ‘done’ or unnatural following cosmetic surgery. They often question why celebrities seem to turn out poorly after such surgery,” he said.“The answer is that many cosmetic surgeons recommend inappropriate operations such as browlifts that almost always produce an unnatural appearance. In addition, patients may request procedures that typically produce unnatural results, such as making the upper lip larger than the lower. Using appropriate analysis and treatment protocols, I have never produced an unnatural or ‘done-looking’ result.”
Patient satisfaction is Dr. Glasgold’s primary goal. From the moment they are first greeted by The Glasgold Group’s friendly and accommodating staff through their post-operative visits, patients receive the highest level of care and attention. “I want patients to feel that we have met or exceeded their expectations,” Dr. Glasgold says.
By achieving natural and durable results with exceptionally minimal healing time, Dr. Glasgold is widely sought after and respected for his work in facial rejuvenation. He is a frequent contributor to medical journals and lectures regularly to his peers at medical conferences on his approaches to achieving the most natural results. Dr. Glasgold completed his fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery under the auspices of the American Academy of Facial and Plastic Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) in 1995. He then spent an additional year learning the techniques of the country’s leading facelift surgeons. He concluded that the modified deep-plane facelift offered patients the most natural and desirable results. He committed himself to mastering this procedure and has successfully performed more than 1,000 deep-plane facelifts.
“Patients are often confused by the types of facelifts that are advertised under different names. The fancy names can be misleading. In reality, they are simpler procedures that are being represented as unique or advanced,” said Dr. Glasgold.
“The modified deep-plane facelift that I perform with the Glasgold Group requires the highest level of training and technical skill in order to master, so it may not be the procedure of choice for many doctors. But in the hands of a skilled cosmetic surgeon, the modified deep-plane facelift produces the most natural and longest lasting results of any facelift procedure.” Dr. Mark Glasgold began performing autologous fat transfer in 1997 and is now regarded as an international expert in this procedure, in which the patient is both donor and recipient. In 2004, he organized the first Facial Fat Transfer Workshop for the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery. He and his brother, Dr. Robert Glasgold, and his former student, Dr. Sam Lam, authored the medical textbook, Complementary Fat Transfer, used by physicians worldwide as a reference and guide to this procedure. “Facial fat grafting works best when it complements the other procedures I perform. It is the key to producing truly youthful and natural results,” he explains.
Dr. Glasgold also is a nationally acknowledged expert in using fat grafting to repair traumatic fat loss resulting from laser and “thermage”-type procedures.
“These patients are often traumatized from their experience and are extremely grateful for any hope of improvement. The results in these patients are consistent and excellent and they among the most satisfied patients.”
Dr Glasgold continues to be a leader in the area of fat transfers. He is one of the first surgeons in the country to perform autologous regenerative cell enhanced fat transfer breast augmentation. Long influenced by his father Dr. Alvin Glasgold’s enthusiasm for the medical profession, Mark Glasgold decided to pursue a career in medicine after graduating from Duke University. He went on to Thomas Jefferson Medical School, in Philadelphia, where he received his M.D. In 1994, he received a master’s in biomedical engineering from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School,. He completed a residency in head and neck surgery at Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the New York Hospital, and Cornell University, all in Manhattan. He did his fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery under the auspices of the American Academy of Facial and Plastic Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) in 1994. He joined The Glasgold Group in 1995.
