What is Cryotherapy? Cryotherapy is a procedure that uses extreme cold to destroy unwanted tissue – most unwanted skin lesions can be treated in this way, including as warts, moles, skin tags and verucas amongst others. How Does it Work? Tissue cells are destroyed during the procedure when they are rapidly brought down to a low temperature forming ice crystals. The ice crystals break down the structure of the cell and water then fills the surrounding area creating a blister. Healing occurs within 1 to 6 weeks depending on the depth of the freeze. Is it painful? There may be some tingling with the initial freezing, but most patients get an anaesthetic effect from the extreme freezing temperatures. More of a pinching sensation occurs when the area thaws out. Some patients may have some discomfort the day after the first procedure but ibuprofen is usually adequate to alleviate this. Will there be scarring? Typically cryosurgery leaves the least amount of scarring of any form of lesion removal because it causes the least damage to the connective tissue. The area of skin treated will appear lighter than the surrounding skin which usually darkens with new tanning. How many treatments are required? For most conditions, cryosurgery is a permanent removal. Some conditions are harder to remove than others, and in delicate areas a shorter freeze time with repeat procedures may be required to achieve a final result with the least damage to surrounding skin. In other cases, where the condition is deep (such as stubborn warts or verucas) several aggressive treatments may be required to achieve total removal. There are several treatments available to treat hyperpigmentation and they include topical treatments with specially prescribed cosmeceuticals and Micro-needling. IS CLINICAL ® products for hyperpigmentation are formulated with pharmaceutical-grade botanical ingredients that work synergistically and safely with skin cells to gradually lighten and even the appearance of pigmentation. The Hyperpigmentation Regime includes products that address overproduction of melanin, encourage exfoliation, and provide sun protection. Broad-spectrum UV sun protection is of paramount importance to treat this condition and prevent its reoccurrence. It is important to discuss your treatment regime for both in-clinic and at-home with your practitioner in a full consultation, prior to embarking on a course of treatment. Micro-needling is a non invasive procedure which is performed in-clinic, where tiny needles are either rolled or punched in to the skin. This encourages healing by means of collagen production. Micro-needling also allows for any cosmeceuticals or prescribed treatments to be absorbed in to the skin for a higher level of efficacy. A course of treatments are usually advised in order to product the best results. There may be a little discomfort during treatment, however, in more aggressive treatments you may be given the option for a topical anaesthetic. You may experience some redness and the feeling of sunburn following the treatment, however this should disappear within a few hours.

First impressions aren’t good, but you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Receptionist for the collective group of clinics wasn’t exactly welcoming. She was sitting in her coat and needed to finish her text messages before acknowledging my presence. However, the actual clinic was quite simply excellent. After an initial consultation, and diagnosis, you are seen by another member of the team to discuss the cost of the treatment required. Considering that my own GP didn’t take things as seriously as they should of, I was offered an immediate removal of a cyst that looked ‘suspicious’ 30 minutes later I was on my way home, cyst removed and though there’s a wait to see if it’s cancerous, it know I’ve now got a fighting chance having had it removed quickly. The Dr was great - honest as you’d expected and very skilled at the removal. Yes, it cost money to do so quickly, but the earliest NHS appointment would have bet October.
